About Ian Colquhoun

Ian is originally from Livingston in Scotland and now resides in Edinburgh. He is a promising up and coming published author, freelance journalist, actor and specialist amputee stunt man. Asides these jobs he is also an expert military historian with a particular interest in the Jacobite wars in Scotland and Ireland 1689-1746 and in the conflicts of the nineteenth century. Both sides of his family have strong military backgrounds going back centuries in armies all over the world, the most famous distant relative being Lieutenant James Calhoun who commanded General George Armstrong Custer’s’ ‘L’ company at the battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876 and was married to Custer’s sister, Maggie.

Ian lost his legs, suffered 65% burns, spent 7 weeks in a coma and was almost killed when he was 24 after a vicious unprovoked assault and arson attack on Christmas day 2002 whilst living in the Irish republic. He is lucky to be alive. Despite overwhelming evidence, no one was convicted of this ghastly crime and as a result of this he received no criminal injuries compensation.

Prior to losing his legs, Ian worked as a warehouseman. He has turned his life around since his ten month stay in hospital following the incident in Ireland. He spent two and a half years in a wheelchair until he was finally fitted with prosthetic limbs in 2005.

He is available as a ghost writer, freelance journalist, co author, actor, stuntman, extra, model or lecturer. He will consider anything however. Ian also gives voluntary lectures to physiotherapy students at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University college.
